  1. I don't know about anyone else, but I feel as though I've only got a little bit of the picture of Birmingham's creative industries.

Therefore I'd be interested in a short talk/presentation (at a bloggers meet) on the various creative organisations in Birmingham (eg Creative Republic, Created in Birmingham, Custard Factory, Digital Birmingham) and how they all fit together.

    Does that sound worthwhile?

  2. Sounds good to me, I think we're all a bit fuzzy on that!

  3. I'm uncomfortable with the idea that blogging has necessarily anything to do with "creative industries" - it's creative, but it doesn't have to be anything to do with business of any kind.

I agree that blogging and creative industries/business aren't the same, but there is some overlap, and a meet would be a good forum to see what's going on and how they fit. I'd be interested.

  5. I think cyBrum is right, although they're quite different, there is a bit of crossover of interest certainly among the usual attendees to date. Nothing to stop those who are interested organising a separate bit in addition to/before/after/during (in a separate area) the regular blogmeet :)

  6. Ooh, I hadn't realised people had responded!

I do think there's a crossover, and I worry that there's too much stuff going on just outside the reach of many of us simply because we're not aware of how things fit together.

There's also possibly an issue of people feeling left out: many of us (most of us in fact, I suspect) are connecting with slightly different groups of people on different networks (Twitter, blogs, etc) and finding ourselves party to only partial bits of discussions. A chance to see a fuller picture of the overlaps would be great, an not just for the bloggers group.

If, as Julia suggests, we organise an addition to a bloggers meet maybe we could publicse it to a much wider audience?

  7. How about I do a question post on CiB? I'll give people a few days to submit the questions they've always wanted to ask, I'll answer what I can and leave the rest to the comments. Or something - is there a better way?

Chances are if you've got questions to ask then lots of other peeps have too.
