  1. With Will Perrin's Ultra Local Voice project looking to get some traction in the West Midlands I thought it would be handy to do a stock take of the blogs we already have that concentrate on a specific area. I'm not so much interested in blogs about Birmingham as blogs about very particular areas of Birmingham no bigger than a square mile or so.

Off the top of my head:

    http://digbeth.org/
    http://valemail.wordpress.com/
    http://highburyparkfriends.org.uk/wp/
    http://www.eyeonmoseley.co.uk/wordpress/
    http://centenaryplaza.wordpress.com/
    http://www.moseleyexchange.com/ (under development)

    Any more?

  2. Also:

    Eastside - http://eastsideblog.wordpress.com/
Edgbaston, Harborne, Quinton, Bartley Green - http://deirdrealden.blogspot.com/
    Jewellery Quarter - http://twitter.com/MyJQ and http://www.jewelleryquarter.net/category/blog/

Unfortunately Hagley Road to Ladywood (http://mymarilyn.blogspot.com/) doesn't qualify.

  5. Should add if they're dead that's also interesting, seeing what they tried and what could have been done to help.

local is a funny beast, lots of these areas are a lot bigger than a square mile, but anyhoo i think we all know what local feels like without having to say define it.

    Some blogs (maybe defunct):
    http://lifeinbearwood.wordpress.com/
    http://moseleyblog.blogspot.com/
    http://brumcitycentre.wordpress.com/
    http://deirdrealden.blogspot.com/

    not blogs:
    http://www.geocities.com/goosemoorlane/
and his spectacular list of 'local-ish' sites:

  12. So why isn't there a Birmingham ultra local blog directory then?

  13. Directories are hard work, basically.
